Access via Paechtown Road is the easiest way in, as the alternative Haines Fire Track can be muddy and steep, especially after rain. Also, avoid the 100-metre stormwater drain connecting to the northern section when it’s wet. Planning ahead will make your visit much smoother, so pack your boots and patience for a ripper bushwalk without the crowds.

To get from the northern section, where the lake is located, you need to walk through a 100 metre stormwater drain. Don't use it when there has been rain.
